Our sessions operate so that the children can free flow from the indoor to the outdoor activities. The children are offered a combination of child initiated and adult led activities that support their learning ans interests, alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (2012). In addition our settings location supports and provides a wide variety of learning opportunities; particularly within physical development, understanding the world and keeping healthy.
We encourage all children to be independent as much as possible, by allowing them to assess and take risks in their play. They are all encourages to conduct their own personal hygiene and put on/take off their own coats. The children regularly prepare their own snacks and tidy away their own things when they have finished. The children self register and have their own drawers, giving them a sense of belonging and importance. In choosing their own resources, the children are making choices. We support the childrens confidence and self esteem, whilst providing a secure environment to expolore their own feelings and acknowledge the feelings of others. We have clear boundaries within the setting and we discuss whith the children what we perceive as acceptable and unacceptable behaviour.
